At least, over the course of 2020, we gained healthier and more helpful views of technology. Many technologies criticized along the lines of, “What do they really do for you?”, have finally proved their usefulness.

Since January 2020, there has been a succession of enormous advances that would have been unimaginable not so long ago: sharing open-access health data; sequencing the Covid-19 genome; and international cooperation between scientists and doctors. 96,000 scientific articles have been published on Covid-19; a handful of vaccines have been approved in 11 months (including the innovative messenger RNA); a variety of tests are now available; and we’ve even been able to carry on our day-to-day lives despite the lockdowns – all this demonstrates the power of hi-tech and the partnerships that result from it.

Artificial intelligence applications, which are now more practical and widespread, are proving their worth.

These major technological innovations were realized in a few months, and we should have hope in our ability to put them to good use. In this very upbeat podcast, Azhar suggests taking a step back so we can make the most of these achievements, including by continuing to share information and working collaboratively.
