1/ Be honest with yourself before you start a dialog
Why do you want to change their point of view? In other words, ask yourself what your own motives and opinions are, before trying to explore theirs.
Don’t view the discussion as a game in which there is a winner and a loser; one person who’s right and the other who’s wrong. View the debate as a real collaboration. Don’t assume the other person has bad intentions; don’t attribute “clichéd” motives to them based on their beliefs. We all have our own, personal reasons.
