1/ Be honest with yourself before you start a dialog 

  • Why do you want to change their point of view? In other words, ask yourself what your own motives and opinions are, before trying to explore theirs.
  • Don’t view the discussion as a game in which there is a winner and a loser; one person who’s right and the other who’s wrong. View the debate as a real collaboration. Don’t assume the other person has bad intentions; don’t attribute “clichéd” motives to them based on their beliefs. We all have our own, personal reasons.
